G2 stay alive in BLAST Open over M80
G2 will now lock horns with The MongolZ for one of the remaining playoff spots up for grabs.

G2 have secured victory over M80 in the Group B lower bracket, taking down the German-American side 2-0 with wins on Ancient (13-9) and Inferno (13-11).
G2 will now be preparing for their final match in the BLAST Open Lisbon group stage, a do-or-die clash with The MongolZ for a place in playoffs. Conversely, M80 will be packing their bags and returning to North America to vie for a direct invitation to the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

m0NESY leads the way for G2
In Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa's first meeting against his former M80 teammates, the Guatemalan rifler struggled to make a statement on the server, finishing the series as G2's lowest-rated player.
malbsMd's quiet game was more than made up for by a resurgence in form from Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who had yet to have a standout game in BLAST Open.
After a standout Ancient, where the young Russian AWPer bagged 23 kills and a 1.85 rating, m0NESY managed to get even more done on Inferno, securing 30 kills, nine multikills, and 122 ADR to allow G2 to come back from a 4-8 deficit.
M80 and Wildcard poised for a VRS photo finish
With this loss, M80 depart BLAST Open Lisbon neck and neck with domestic rivals Wildcard in the VRS ranking, competing for the title of the fifth-highest-rated team in the Americas.
The team that manages to secure the fifth-place ranking will enjoy the privilege of a direct invitation to the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major. Conversely, whichever of these two teams finishes in sixth in the region will be obliged to compete in the Major Regional Qualifier for their spot at the Major.

M80 and Wildcard will have one more opportunity to differentiate themselves in the rankings before Major invites are determined, as they are set to compete in the PGL Astana 2025 North America Closed Qualifier beginning March 27.
G2 not out of the woods just yet
While G2 will no doubt be pleased that they managed to put up a much livelier performance than in their 0-2 loss to Eternal Fire yesterday, more work needs to be done if they want to secure a place in the playoffs in Lisbon.
The last remaining hurdle for Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's men is The MongolZ, who fell to the lower bracket after suffering a loss to Natus Vincere.
G2 and The MongolZ have only clashed one time this year, at ESL Pro League Season 21. In that series, The MongolZ came back from a map deficit in the group stage of the Swedish event to best G2 2-1.
